FLUORIDATION OF TEETH

USEFUL INFO

Sooner or later, everyone has the day when going to the dentist cannot be postponed, and in anticipation of unpleasant and painful sensations, we dial the administrator's number. Involuntarily, at such moments, everyone asks himself: "Why did you put it off, why didn't you find a way to prevent damage to the tooth?" Indeed, it is much easier, cheaper and more pleasant to protect tooth enamel from cracks and various diseases. Adults are already aware of their responsibility and patiently sit in the doctor's chair, because they know that treatment cannot be avoided. The situation is quite different with children who are afraid to be in the doctor's office, they cannot sit in one place for a long time, moreover, with their mouths open.

In order to keep the number of visits to the dentist with a child to a minimum, we recommend fluoridation of milk teeth in a child, thereby protecting fragile children's teeth from damage.

Teeth fluoridation: what is it and where to do it?

Teeth fluoridation is a kind of dental procedure for coating the surface of teeth with a special solution saturated with useful elements, including fluorine ions. This process is very simple and completely painless, and the effect of it is really good. The fact is that children are at greater risk of developing caries and other typical diseases. Fluoridation prevents this, and as a bonus, it shows the child that dental treatment is not scary and does not hurt at all. Despite the simplicity of the procedure, the results of fluoridation can be equated to professional teeth cleaning. Among other advantages of the procedure, we highlight the following:

  • effective strengthening of enamel;
  • blocking the development of minor nicks and cracks;
  • normalization of tooth sensitivity;
  • preservation and protection against destruction of existing seals.

We recommend doing this procedure about once a year, because, despite the benefits, an overdose of fluoride will not bring you anything good. Also, keep in mind that an examination by a doctor and his recommendations before the fluoridation procedure are mandatory, because there is a risk that that fluoridation may be contraindicated in humans. This group of patients includes those who have:

  • allergic to the components that make up the drug ;
  • serious diseases of the oral cavity are incompatible with the fluoridation procedure;
  • individual negative reactions of the body to fluorine.

How is the process going?

Before starting the procedure for applying a medicinal substance, the dentist must carefully examine the patient and make sure that there is no caries, mechanical damage to the teeth and other problems with the teeth that make the fluoridation process impossible. Only healthy people can be protected with a solution, teeth are treated, so the procedure is carried out only after filling the damage and treating caries. It should be noted that there are two types of this procedure, on which the price of teeth fluoridation depends - deep and superficial. The expediency of using one of them is determined by the doctor himself during the consultation. As mentioned earlier, the manipulation itself does not cause any difficulties and consists of several stages. First, the doctor begins with brushing the teeth, carefully removes plaque, and then dries the surface of the teeth. Then the dentist covers the enamel with fluorine varnish and dries the dentition again with air or a special lamp. In order to get the most positive result, all stages of manipulation are repeated.
